Pedro Lima is a Portuguese composer with a considerable number of works presented nationally and internationally. His music has already travelled to the prestigious Berliner Konzerthaus, Milton Court Theatre in London, Casa da Música (Porto), Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon), Theatro Circo (Braga), Vila Flôr Cultural Centre (Guimarães), MIRA Forum (Porto), GNRation (Braga), among other places.
The composer as been awarded at some of the most important national competitions for contemporary music, such as the 3rd BSP – Portuguese Symphonic Band National Composition Competition with the work Sopro do Côncavo (2015); and the SPA/ Antena 2 Composition Prize for the symphonic piece (…) e tu,
de mim voaste (2016), premiered by the Gulbenkian Orchestra.
His first musical theatre work, THEATRO - Um Ensaio Geral (2016) – a youth opera co-created with Francisco Fontes, Diogo Martins, with a libretto written by Júlia Durand and produced by the Gulbenkian Music Conservatoire in Braga – was premiered at his hometown, Braga.
In 2017 Pedro Lima travelled to London, where he composed his first chamber opera Reel Woman (2018), with libretto written by Gareth Mattey. There he also completed his Master's Degree, honoured with a distinction, at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Young Composer in Residence at the Casa da Música in 2019; Associated Composer at the Victor Córdon
Studios of the São Carlos National Theatre (Lisbon) in 2020; and composer within the European Project TRACTION – Opera
in Prison, to co-create a new opera to be premiered at the Gulbenkian
Foundation in Lisbon (2022), with professional singers, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, inmates and the prison community from the Leiria Youth Prison.
Pedro Lima has already worked with groups and renowned artists, such as the Gulbenkian Orchestra,
Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, Braga Sinfonietta, Guimarães Orchestra, Peter Rundel, Miquel Bernat, Baldur Brönnimann, Alex Lowe, Teresa Salgueiro, among others. He has also collaborated with the Antena 2 – Portuguese National Boradcaster.

Biography
