José Teixeira is a guitarist and a teacher from Fafe, who graduated from Classical Guitar at the University of Minho, in the class of Professor Ricardo Barceló. He performs regularly in recitals, either solo or with chamber ensembles and orchestras.
He has received various awards, among which the following stand out: 3rd Prize at the Paços Premium Contest (top level); Honourable Mention at the International Guitar Competition of Leiria (higher level) in 2018, Honourable Mention at the Cidade de Almada International Competition in 2014 (solo); and also Honourable Mention at the Gilberto Paiva Contest (higher level) in 2014 (Chamber Music Category).
José Teixeira participated in the recording of the CD Pleiades, a pioneering plectrum music edition in Portugal. Together with the guitarist Luís Miguel Leite he set up the project Música Contemporânea Portuguesa para Guitarra (Contemporary Portuguese Music for Guitar), which resulted in a homonymous CD album.
