Details as composer
Quarteto Lacerda was founded in 1990 and is one of the leading string quartets of Portugal. Besides standard repertoire, with a special emphasis on Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, Quarteto Lacerda dedicates much of its attention to unjustly neglected masterpieces from the Portuguese repertoire, such as works by Vianna da Motta, Luís de Freitas Branco, Francisco de Lacerda and the contemporary composer João Pedro Oliveira. They have premiered works by Moritz Eggert, Alain Ridout, Arnold Trowel, Frederico de Freitas, Eugénio Rodrigues, Eurico Carrapatoso and Alexandre Delgado (the quartet's viola player). They have performed in many of the major festivals and venues in Portugal, as well as in Spain, France, Italy and England. Recent appearances have included a concert in Paris at Calouste Gulbenkian Cultural Centre (April 2005), two programmes dedicated to Beethoven in "Festa da Música" at Cultural Centre of Belém, Lisbon, concerts at the Lanciano Festival (Italy), at the Whitstable Music Club (Kent, England) and a programme of Portuguese music at the São Carlos Opera Theatre.
