 Paulo Jorge Ferreira – accordionist and composer – has given recitals as well as chamber music concerts both at national and international level, having performed with globally renowned musicians.

He has been invited accordionist, performing with different symphony and chamber orchestras, such as: Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, Lisbon Sinfonietta, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música. He has also performed as soloist with: Esart Ensemble, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, Chamber Orchestra of Cascais and Oeiras, having worked with various renowned conductors.

Simultaneously Paulo Jorge Ferreira has also been developing the activity as composer, writing works for solo instruments, chamber music and orchestra. Due to the growing interest in his way of composing, he has received commissions from some of the most renowned soloists, chamber music groups and Portuguese music festivals; some of his pieces have also been performed abroad. CDs with several of his works have been published and the printed editions of his music – scores – are being released by the AVA Musical Editions.

Paulo Jorge Ferreira lectures at the Superior School of Applied Arts in Castelo Branco and at the National Conservatory in Lisbon. He is also artistic director of the Folefest – Accordion Festival and Contest, as well as president of the Folefest Association. He has been considered a preponderant element in the artistic development of the accordion repertoire/performance in Portugal.
