IN APRIL PEDRO M. ROCHA IS THE MIC.PT COMPOSER IN FOCUS
The work of Pedro M. Rocha, who this year celebrates his 50th anniversary, transmits the composer’s philosophy and thought regarding modern times and transcendent qualities of music. His recent artistic approach is marked by the relation between emotive and rational – at the beginning of his music career he studied Geology at the Science Faculty of Lisbon University. Pedro M. Rocha is particularly interested in improvisatory processes, which allow creative liberty. He explores the ultra-chromatic language of microtones and micro-rhythms, which integrates acoustic and electronic sounds in a sonorous continuum. Improvisation is also an important mean in his work with pupils at Academy of Music Amateurs and Leiria Arts Conservatory.
Discover the music, work and philosophy of Pedro M. Rocha, the mic.pt April composer “In Focus”.
