ISABEL SOVERAL "IN FOCUS" ON MIC.PT IN DECEMBER
The last 2011 edition of the mic.pt “In Focus” section presents the work and musical personality of Isabel Soveral, composer who this year celebrates her 50th anniversary. At the age of 18 she attended her first Composition course oriented by Jorge Peixinho, with whom she worked until 1988 and who was one of the main personalities in the process of her musical education. In the same year she entered the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she studied under the guidance of Daria Semegen and Bulent Arel. Her music, simultaneously at the micro and macro level, can be characterized by morphose, constant transformation. At the same time she stresses the influence of the modernist school, principally its evidence in the music of Karlheinz Stockhausen. In her work one can also distinguish a “visual” component, so to speak, what metaphorically turns her into sculptress of sound masses. In December visit the mic.pt in to discover the music of Isabel Soveral.
