CLOTILDE ROSA "IN FOCUS" ON MIC.PT IN APRIL
In June the “In Focus” section of the mic.pt, member of the Adkins Chiti “Women in Music” Foundation, is dedicated to Clotilde Rosa, composer, harpist and teacher, one of the first to introduce in Portugal, together with Jorge Peixinho, the experience of the famous Darmstadt summer courses. “Clotilde Rosa’s creative emergence on the Portuguese musical scene is simultaneously atypical and symptomatic”, wrote Manuel Pedro Ferreira on the pages of “Ten Portuguese Composers” (“Dez Compositores Portugueses”). She awakened for composition only around the age of forty-five through the participation, as performer, in the Lisbon Contemporary Music Group, conducted by Jorge Peixinho, becoming one of the most important personalities in what concerns the creation and divulgation of contemporary music. Her catalogue includes more than eighty titles: chamber music works, orchestral music, an opera, a ballet and also various didactic pieces. Presently, in her musical language she does not obey any established code, using freely a symbiosis of all the techniques, which she has developed until now – from serialism to repetitive minimalism present in works with aleatoric fragments. In June rediscover the work of Clotilde Rosa, one of the women composers on mic.pt.

MÚSICA VIVA FESTIVAL 2012 - 18th Edition!
Portugal is facing a profound crisis: both economical and philosophical!
The art of Portuguese music is experiencing what is probably its most remarkable golden age, superior to the age of polyphony!
Contradicting the disinvestment in art and culture practiced by the Portuguese government, contemporary composers and performers affirm the richness and vitality, without precedent, to which the Música Viva Festival gives voice, being a privileged vehicle for communication of music created here and now, of music reinventing itself day after day.
A space for circulation, and meeting of ideas and aesthetics, the programme of the 18th edition of the Música Viva Festival, which will be taking place in Lisbon at two different venues and timelines – September 18th to 23rd at the Belém Cultural Centre and from October 6th to 10th and the Goethe Institut in Lisbon – will be dedicated, in its essence, to new Portuguese creation, with the focus, once again, on the relations of music with technology.

2nd INTERNATIONAL FORUM FOR YOUNG COMPOSERS
In order to stimulate the creation and circulation of new music works, the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble, the Goethe Institut in Lisbon and the Musikhochschule in Munich are organizing the second edition of the Sond'Ar-te International Forum for Young Composers, which will be taking place between October 6th and 10th 2012 at the Goethe Institut in Lisbon.
