	PATRÍCIA SUCENA DE ALMEIDA "IN FOCUS" ON MIC.PT IN DECEMBER Continuing to give highlight to the Portuguese women composers, the mic.pt "In Focus" section presents another Questionnaire / Interview, this time to Patrícia Sucena de Almeida who this year celebrates her 40th anniversary. Patrícia Sucena de Almeida's music encompasses various musical genres; nevertheless the distinctive feature in her work, both as composer and researcher, is the multidisciplinary approach, in which musical language is combined with other art forms. Finding inspiration in literature, cinema, painting or theatre, the composer's present projects include the post-doctorate at the University of Aveiro, in the context of which she analyses the concept of merging of diverse arts and music. This process resulted in composing various works such as "Nocturna Itinera", "Sublime Volans", "In Occulto" or "Reditus ad vitam" written for the British pianist Ian Pace. "I think that we should never ignore other forms of art, even if the composition part was purely instrumental. They follow a path, which turns out to be common and in this sense analysing them is of great interest. In my case, I do not consider them only as sources or influences but also as actors in my work, particularly in multidisciplinary pieces where they interact with the musical language", emphasizes Patrícia Sucena de Almeida in the Questionnaire, which in December is presented in the mic.pt "In Focus" section.

MÚSICA VIVA FESTIVAL 2012 ON THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW LOUNGE In December the New Music Review Lounge publishes a review by Benoît Gibson to the second part of the Musica Viva Festival 2012 held at the Goethe-Institut in Lisbon, October 8 and 10, which included the concert in tribute to Emmanuel Nunes and the 2nd International Forum for Young Composers of the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble, with premiere performances by Rui Penha, Arash Safaian, Nuno Peixoto de Pinho, Henrik Ajax and Hugo Ribeiro.

Arte Eletroacústica is a radio programme presented fortnightly, realized and produced by the Miso Music Portugal and the Portuguese Music Research & Information Centre for the Antena 2, in conjunction with the Ars Acustica group, of the European Broadcasting Union. Arte Eletroacústica is presented by Miguel Azguime and coordinated by Jakub Szczypa. 13th ELECTROACOUSTIC COMPOSITION COMPETITION MÚSICA VIVA 2012 On December 7, during the Miso Music Portugal's Concert Season in Cascais, the jury composed of Gilles Gobeil, António Ferreira and Miguel Azguime will announce the winning work of the 13th Electroacoustic Composition Competition Música Viva 2012. This year's edition included almost 180 composers from 32 countries.
EUROPEAN COMPETITION FOR LIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC PROJECTS 2012 - RESULTS After the concert on November 3 at the De Singel in Antwerp the jury annonuced the winning work of the ECPMN Competition: Alexander Schubert's (1979, Germany) - Bifurcation Fury for electric bass guitar, live electronics and live-video This work will be performed at several festivals of ECPNM members. In total 24 proposals were received from composers from 14 different European countries. The jury consisted of Miguel Azguime, Helmut Erdmann and Henk Heuvelmans (and for the category Double bass / electric bass also John Eckhardt).

PORTUGUESE AUTHORS SOCIETY AWARDS MEDAL OF HONOUR TO ÁLVARO SALAZAR On November 27, at the Casa da Música, the Portuguese Authors Society awarded the Medal of Honour to Álvaro Salazar, composer, conductor and professor, founder of the Oficina Musical, with which he has been working regularly during its 35-year existence.
