Portuguese Contemporary Music - Digital Promotion

member of the International Association of Music Informations Centres

(the site in english is under construction)

Portuguese Contemporary Music – Digital Promotion is a project of the Portuguese Music Information Centre, now in its final phase, conceived as a public service in order to fill a void as far as the public profile of Portuguese contemporary music is concerned. This project aims to implement a systematic classification of information relating to the composition of Portuguese Music in the 20th/21st Century, as well as emphasizing its importance, promoting it and making it publicly available, both nationally and internationally, by means of currently available virtual resources.

The goal of this project is the creation of a web site dedicated to Portuguese Contemporary Music, equipped with an interactive database laid out according to the division composer/work, in which text, image and sound provide the user with a simplified and attractive search. The information available online, be it filmed interviews with the composers, musical scores, recordings, bibliographies, catalogues of pieces or musicological studies, will allow the general public, as well as the professional, to gain access to all the information pertaining to Portuguese composers and their works.

More information concerning Portuguese musicians, national and international resources related to contemporary music, a quarterly newsletter and a space for public debate will also be offered.
