Delfina Figueiredo completed the Degree in Piano at the National Conservatoire in 1940. Having started giving private lessons in music theory and piano, dedicated primarily to musical education, after having attended in 1962, the Edgar Willems Education and Musical Teaching Course, sponsored by the Gulbenkian Foundation, in which was rated as Very Good. In the following years she also attended the Course for Teachers of Choir Singing, with the same classification, and the Orff-Schulwerk Music Education Course, both organized by the Gulbenkian Foundation. A founding partner of the Edgar Willems International Association, was present at the first congress of this association held in 1977 in Switzerland and was invited to the Support Committee of the International Congress held in Lisbon, where she presented a class of pre-solfege, a demonstration of the Willems method. She also participated in the music education seminars directed by Prof. Jacques Chapuis, organized by the Portuguese Association for Musical Education (APEM), and the 1st Symposium of the Association, presenting classes in rythmic improvisation. At the Conservatoire she attended a course on the new Basic Education programs, under the guidance of Constance Capdeville. She taught music education to children in the Gulbenkian Foundation in various schools and the Conservatory of Lisbon, where she taught until 1989, when she retired due to age limit. She was also a supervisor of intensive courses for teachers of Music Education at the Lisbon Conservatory, courses on musical pedagogy in the Tomar and Castelo Branco regional conservatoires, and music education in the former Assistance Educators School. She was in the Gulbenkian Choir since its beginning until 1970. She is the author of the book of children's songs "Cantigas da minh’Avó" with teaching suggestions for teachers, which consists of musical literature recommended by the APEM (Program Guidelines of Music Education in the 1st cycle of Basic Education (2006)) and the Program of Arts/Music at th School of Education.
