EURICO CARRAPATOSO "IN FOCUS" ON MIC.PT IN APRIL
Eurico Carrapatoso, who this year celebrates his 50th anniversary, is this month the “In Focus” composer on mic.pt. His career began relatively late, yet he rapidly gained his respective place in the Portuguese composition field, affirming himself as a rare case of popularity among audience and intending to invert, in his own manner, the famous phrase of Arnold Schöberg: “If it is art, it is for all, if it is not for all, then it is not art.” His music has a style, which confronts archaic modality, “pop” harmonizations and some vanguard techniques. Being directly connected to the traditions of musical past, Constança Capdeville’s and Jorge Peixinho’s ex-pupil and author of more than 150 works of different genres, Eurico Carrapatoso was directly influenced by Fernando Lopes-Graça, particularly in what concerns the maintenance of the memory on traditional Portuguese music coming from his native land, which is situated in the Mirandela district. In April visit the mic.pt and get to know the work and personality of Eurico Carrapatoso.
