PEDRO REBELO IN FOCUS ON THE MIC.PT IN NOVEMBER
Pedro Rebelo’s activity as composer, performer and researcher constitutes a challenge to the conventional standards regarding the art of sound. This November, the MIC.PT In Focus section is dedicated to his work, thus accompanying the release of his Dossier within the series - Dossiers . Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries.
He was born in Viseu in 1972. Presently he is professor and research director at the Sonic Arts Research Centre at the Queen’s University Belfast. Pedro Rebelo’s works are regularly presented around the world. Within the universe of improvised music he has been performing with some of the best artists dedicated to this genre. In this context one should emphasize his work developed with the saxophonist, Franziska Schroeder, as part of the Duo l a u t - it is here that Pedro Rebelo develops the interpretative aspects of the “computer on stage”.
His music has a privileged relationship not only with new technologies, but also with multidisciplinarity. What particularly interests him concerns exploring new virtual environments for performance, as well as carrying out communitarian projects, which reveal through sound, for example, the inner world of people affected with mental disorders.
Contemporary music practice constitutes part of a broader framework of all sound arts - says the composer in the MIC.PT Questionnaire that this month is published in the MIC.PT In Focus section and in the Dossier no. 10 of the series - Dossiers . Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries.

MIC.PT Highlights
New Composers Published by the MIC.PT
This November, António Ferreira and João Castro Pinto will join the Composers Published by the MIC.PT.
For a long time the MIC.PT has intended to extend its publications to works of music in other media besides the scores. It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome these two composers who are dedicated to electroacoustic music.
Very soon several electroacoustic works of these two authors will be available online. And in the case of multitrack works, they will be in our data base available for distribution and presentation in concert, with their appropriate formats.
Of course, the MIC.PT will also provide this new publishing activity, in addition to its score catalogue, to all composers already published by the MIC.PT who also write electroacoustic music.
With the release of audio, video, and other media, we also begin a new collaboration with Miso Records for publishing and commercial distribution purposes.
