The Ensemble Contemporaneus presents a group of 15 resident musicians. However, and according to the demanding of the repertoire, mainly focused on the XX and XXI century composers, other instruments may join the original formation of the Ensemble. Founded in 2003 by a group of young students from the Music Major at the University of Évora, it has been managed, both artistically and administratively, since 2005 by the Contemporaneus Association. This association was founded by the early members of the ensemble, to promote contemporary music. Since its debut on the 5th of July of 2003, the Ensemble Contemporaneus interpreted first nacional and european hearings, by several composers, such as: Christopher Bochmann, Sérgio Azevedo, Tiago Cutileiro, Lindembergue Cardoso, David Heuser, among others. The Ensemble Contemporaneus has a regular concert activity in different Portuguese and Spanish cities, conducted by guest conductors, such as the renowned Christopher Bochmann and Pedro Amaral.
