I wanted a score that started from a graphic idea. Lines, line segments, angles, geometric figures such as triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, perpendicular and oblique lines, lines and points, polygonal lines, etc. It was by revisiting these and other geometrical subjects that I started this septet. I revived these subjects in a book on composer Cândido Lima's shelf, "Elements of Geometry", by the author António do Nascimento Palma Fernandes. A book with a dedication to the composer Cândido Lima in honour of his literary merit during his studies as a young man.
The work, divided into four movements, "attacca subito", is a work for young people (and not so young) in which the following sonorities are essentially explored in each movement: brass of indeterminate heights, membranes of indeterminate heights, brass of determined heights and woods of indeterminate heights. Between deterministic and indeterministic writing, given materials performed randomly, repeating or improvising, BIGINT passages in free time, a work of possible interpretations that are as precise as possible, but given the subjective nature of the graphics, it will therefore be the subject of various visions.
Commissioned by the Arte No Tempo Association to whom the work is dedicated, it is also dedicated to composer and August birthday boy Cândido Lima. For the affections, for the infinite gazes, for all the D'Agra mountains, for the oceans and seas here and there, for the geometries of our spaces, for the choirs and women that surround us, for autumn, for the mayos and the drums, in the form of "TRAMA", threads crossed in the dance of life.
