 Portuguese composer and pianist. Óscar da Silva studied in Leipzig and Frankfurt with Clara Schumann.

He is considered the last of the great Portuguese romantic composers and, simultaneously, the initiator of modern music in Portugal. Óscar da Silva joined with enthusiasm the modernist evolution and the new currents. During his life he was recognized as a great composer as well as performer of music by Chopin and Schumann, among other composers.
