Born in 1984, Miguel Jesus began his musical studies at the Santa Cecília Music Academy as a violin student. Later he opted for the guitar, first as a self-taught student, then joining the school of the Hot Clube of Portugal. Later, he decided to pursue the classical guitar by studying at the Academia de Amadores de Música (Music Amateurs Academy), with António Ferreirinho, and later at the ESML – Music College of Lisbon, with João Pedro Duarte, where he finished his degree.

He started composing during his time at the ESML – Music College of Lisbon, participating in the ESML Composition Week with pieces for a cappella choir, formation for which until now he has written the most music. Among his compositions one can distinguish:
Eu Sou a Tela (2019) for a cappella mixed choir, winner of the National Choral Composition Competition Manuel Emílio Porto 2019
Sim farei (2021) for a cappella mixed choir, winner of the Composition Award 2nd Évora School | Eborae Mvsica - 2nd edition;
O Tesouro (2020) chamber opera, written as part of OperaFest Lisbon 2020 · Opera XXI Marathon, winner of the audience award; Tríptico Nocturno (2019) for mixed a cappella choir, awarded with an Honourable Mention at the Musa Prize (MPMP – Patromonial Movement for Portuguese Music);
Elogio da Morte (2019) for string quartet and soprano, written and recorded as part of the CriaSons Festival (2nd edition).

As a choralist he performs with groups such as the Gulbenkian Choir, the Officium Ensemble, the Voces Caelestes and the MPMP Ensemble. He was also a member of the Chiado Ensemble, a guitar quintet formed by students of the Academia de Amadores de Música (Music Amateurs Academy)
