This piece as the name suggests, is based on rhythmic and melodic ostinatos. It’s a work in two movements where the first is the main and the genesis of the entire piece. Both movements have two contrasting sections. In the first section, from a fast nature, the technical issues and the difficulty of joining the two parts, piano and saxophone, are taken into account. In the second section, with a slow character, the main theme is explored in all is nature. It is also important to note the difficulty of the higher notes in the alto saxophone, present throughout all the second movement. Work composed in two movements based on a rhythmic and melodic ostinato, that throughout the speech will be the target of different modifications. The interaction of the two instruments is the result of the clarity and objectivity of the initial idea, it becomes and remains essential. Work commissioned by saxophonist João Pedro Silva. The general nature of the piece, has its genesis in my particular idea about this singular musician.
