Composed at the request of Pedro Rufino, this work had two different editions: the first in 5/ 2010, destined for the premiere concert. At my request, each of the parties received notes from their interpreters, answering questions about the timing of the work. The second edition of the same work, dates from 2016 and was presented as a result of the study done in my PhD in Composition, with the thesis Synchronism in Chamber Music, notation strategies (University of Évora). This latest edition contains specific notation for timing, using gestures.

Program Notes
De Natura Sonorum is a work where I tried to create a timeless fabric, in a kind of changing knitting, where values such as harmony, counterpoint or melody are just supports to link related or outliers, or create extremely contrasting densities – ranging from the soloist to the complete mixture of the four instruments. The tuning of the guitars is done in order to achieve large harmonic blocks, when the the 24 strings is used. The intentions wander among all the possibilities of an idealized “guitaristic language”: from a single note that receives echoes in different registers, up until the great agglomerations treated with the effects of tearing and drumming, in gestures united by the harmonic derivation, by groups of notes central and some melodic inflections.
