The work Väri (colour) was composed in response to a request from the Chromatic Archipelago Association as part of its "Young Soloists for Equality" project. The title came from the particularity of the commission: a work for solo violin and wind decatet, with the diversity of timbres being one of the focuses of this composition. The orchestral treatment follows the concept of Klangfarbenmelodie (sound-colour-melody), where melodic lines launched by the violin are continued by the ensemble, but later take on a life of their own, creating drama with the soloist part.
