Performa Ensemble premieres works by Portuguese Composers
On the 26th of April, the project ENTREculturalidades / INTERtextualidades will have the Performa Ensemble premiering works by the following Portuguese Composers published by the MIC.PT: Fernando Lapa, João Pedro Oliveira, Miguel Azguime, Sara Carvalho, Ricardo Ribeiro, Nuno Figueiredo and Ângela da Ponte. The concerto will take place at Auditório do DeCA (Aveiro University) at 6:30 pm.
Eduardo Luís Patriarca
Eduardo Luís Patriarca will lecture a Workshop on The History and Technique of Spectral Music at Conservatório "Calouste Gulbenkian" de Braga, on April 7th. The composer published by the MIC.PT will also have the premiere of his work Tanka, for piano (left hand), on the 24th of April at Festival Internacional de Música da Primavera de Viseu, performed by André Roque Cardoso.
Miguel Azguime
Miguel Azguime, composer published by the MIC.PT, will make a communication at Noites JOP em Palmela entitled The birth of a work (the creation process), on the 11th of April at Conservatório Regional de Palmela. On the 26th, the composer will have the premiere of his work Le Spleen, for violin, cello and piano, comissioned by Performa Ensemble, who will perform it at Auditório do DeCA (UA).
Jaime Reis
From 10 to 14 April, Jaime Reis, composer published by the MIC.PT, will participate in a meeting on Soundscape, taking place in Florence, where he will discuss his new electroacoustic work. At the same time, on the 13th of April, the composer will have his work Lysozyme Synthesis (published by the MIC.PT) performed by Ana Telles at Conservatório "E. R. Duni" di Matera, in Italy.
Igor C. Silva
On the 1st of April a Monographic Concert by Igor C. Silva, composer published by the MIC.PT, is taking place at Rewire Festival 2017, in the Netherlands, with the works Your Trash, Smart-alienation, Numb, and the premiere of a new work for ensemble, electronics and video - performed by Trash Pand Collective. On April 5th, Henrique Portovedo will perform the work Numb at Mallorca Saxophone Festival. On the 12th of April, Igor C. Silva will have his work Frames#87, for clarinet, electronics and video performed by Víctor Pereira and José Alberto Gomes, at Academia Ibero-Americana do clarinete. On the following day, the composer published by the MIC.PT will be at Festival Internacional de Música da Primavera de Viseu with his work Ecos_74 performed by Percussion Group. Later this month, on April 20, the works Your Trash, Smart-alienation and Plastic Air will be performed by Igor himself and João Miguel Braga Simões, at Splendor in Amsterdam. Still in April, on the 28th, Igor C. Silva will have the premiere of a new work for ensemble, electronics and video, performed by the Ensemble of Students from Cva at Blue Note Amsterdam. Lastly, on the 29th, the composer will present an Interactive Video Project at OrgelPark, also in Amsterdam.
Duarte P. Dinis Silva
The composer published by the MIC.PT, Duarte P. Dinis Silva, will have his work Misty - Symphonic Poem (score available at MIC.PT), performed by Orquestra Sinfónica do Conservatório Regional de Castelo Branco conducted by Bruno Cândido, at Sé Catedral de Castelo Branco, on the 8th of April.
João Castro Pinto
João Castro Pinto will start another tour through Austria between late April and early May. His first solo concert will take place on April 30 with the radio art performance piece The No Land Soundscape Project, at ORF 1 - Austrian Broadcasting Studios, broadcasting live at 11:00 pm (CEST).
Sara Carvalho
The composer published by the MIC.PT, Sara Carvalho, will give a seminar at Dublin Institute of Technology on the 7th April. Also in April, the Performa Ensemble will premiere a new work on the 26th, at Auditório do DeCA (Aveiro University), integrated in the ENTREculturalidades/INTERtextualidades project.
André Roque Cardoso premieres music by Portuguese Composers
The pianist André Roque Cardoso will be premiering, on the 24th of April at Festival Internacional de Música da Primavera de Viseu, the following works by portuguese composers published by the MIC.PT: 4 Fantasmas, for piano (left hand) by António Chagas Rosa, Tanka, for piano (left hand) and electronics by Eduardo Luís Patriarca, and Sinistram Umbra by José Carlos Sousa.
João Pedro Oliveira
João Pedro Oliveira, composer published by the MIC.PT, will have his work Magma, for violin and eletronics performed at Latin is America at Michigan State University, on 17 April 17. On the 19th of April the composer will present a conference on sound spatialization at II Coloqui Pensar / Crear / Investigar en Músicas y Tecnologias in Santiago do Chile. Still in April, on the 22nd, João Pedro Oliveira will have his works Neshamah and 'Âphâr performed at III festival de Música Eletroacustica de la Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. Lastly, on the 26th, the composer will also have a premiere with Performa Ensemble at Auditório do DeCA (Aveiro University).
Pedro Rebelo
Pedro Rebelo, composer published by the MIC.PT, will be in artistic residence in April at International Iberan Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), in Braga, with the production of GNRation from Braga.
Fernando Lapa
The composer published by the MIC.PT, Fernando Lapa, will have his work Storyboard, 6 miniatures for 4 hands piano, performed by João Lucena e Vale and José Bon de Sousa at the Concerto Antena 2 at O'culto da Ajuda, on the 4th of April, at 9:00 pm.
José Mesquita Lopes
José Mesquita Lopes, composer published by the MIC.PT, will teach a Guitar Masterclass aimed at all levels, at Escola de Música "Luís António Maldonado Rodrigues" in Torres Vedras, on the 5th and 6th of April.
Daniel Schvetz
Starting on April 2nd, the Portuguese National Radio Antena 2 will broadcast every sunday the program Travessia, authored by Daniel Schvetz. This program is part of the broadcast cycle Caleidoscópio. Each episode is dedicated to the music of one Latin America's country, the first of which is Cuba. On the 4th of April at 9:00 pm, the composer published by the MIC.PT will also have his work for four hands piano Entre Douro e Vouga performed by João Lucena e Vale and José Bon de Sousa, at Concerto Antena 2 at O'culto da Ajuda.

New records releases

In April, Música Hoje will reveal new CD releases with contemporary Portuguese Music. The first broadcast in April will unveil the recent monographic edition of Cândido Lima by mpmp (movimento patrimonial pela música portuguesa). This CD, entitled Oceânides, includes various works by Cândido Lima recorded live by musicians and music groups, both portuguese and from abroad.

On this second broadcast in April, Música Hoje continues to unveil new CD releases with contemporary Portuguese Music. This time we'll listen to some of the most recent editions from Creative Sources recordings, a prolific label founded by Ernesto Rodrigues which has recorded and published the music of many free improvisors.
We will, therefore, discover Maat mons by Variable Geometry Orchestra and Théatron by Suspensão, among other works that will be revealed firsthand.

Dossier no. 12: Portuguese Composers
of the 20th and 21st Centuries
This April, in the context of the new series Dossiers: Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries, we provide a new online publication - the new edition in Portuguese of the Dossier no. 12 devoted to João Madureira. The series Portuguese Composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries, intends to promote the work of Portuguese contemporary composers, constituting an “introspection” in the work of every composer, being simultaneously an encouragement to explore and (re)discover their music, as well as their aesthetic and philosophic reflection. Each Dossier is built of a short biography, questionnaire/interview or musicological article, catalogue of works with two ordinations (by instrumentation and following the chronological order) and discography.
