Program Notes
This piece has a "milestone" value for me in relation to the guitar, because that is when I realized that I composed for a dreamed instrument, without limitations by the memories of my own performances. The sequence of the pieces is made from the contrast between two slow movements and two movements that are more dynamic: the first three were interwoven so that the second acted as a contrasting middle part. Creating continuity in the sequence of the four pieces, the third movement is an open form leading to the final Toccatina. Present in all movements are almost lyrical meditative environments (with a slight atonal hue), milder modal contours, and an instrumental coloring structured by the play between rhythmic and harmonic symmetries.
