The Berliner Trio is a long Passacaglia of 15 minutes, a massive group of twelve variations about a melodical and obstinated theme that remains completely or slightly unchanged in each one of its variations. This kind of technique interests me particulary as it allows me to look at a certain object, in this case the theme, from several different angles. As in Monet's Catedral de Rouen or Gare Saint-Lazare, in which the different sights at different times of the day cause diverse perceptions of the painted object, it is also possible to hear in the Passacaglia the theme as a constantly changing harmonic light.
