Mariana Vieira (Sintra, Portugal, 1997) is a composer based in Lisbon.
She studied Music Composition and Teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), where she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree with the composers Carlos Caires and Jaime Reis.
Her works’ catalogue includes acousmatic, mixed and instrumental music (solo, chamber, ensemble and orchestral settings), as well as pedagogical compositions.
Her music has been performed at festivals such as Young Euro Classic and BachFest (Germany), L’Espace du Son (Belgium), Audio Art (Poland), Electroacoustic Music Days (Greece), Crossroads and Echoes Around Me (Austria), Monaco Electroacoustique (Monaco), Aveiro_Síntese and Música Viva (Portugal).
She has received prizes such as the European Composer Award (Germany) in 2017, the Electronic Music Composition Contest (Canada) in 2021, and the Young Lion*ess of Acousmatic Music (Austria) in 2022.
Mariana Vieira is an assistant professor at the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART) in Castelo Branco (Portugal) and a member of the DME Project, Lisboa Incomum and EMSCAN network.
