 Composition studies with Fernando Lapa at the Conservatório de Música do Porto from 1994-97 with Christopher Bochmann and António Pinho Vargas at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa from 1997-2001 and with Klaas de Vries at the Hogeschool voor Muziek en Dans, Rotterdam (2003 - 2004) . In addition, he has attended masterclasses with Philippe Hurel, Helmut Lachenmann, Emmanuel Nunes, Jorge Peixinho and Salvatore Sciarrino. His honours include a Honourable Mention in the Lopes Graça Composition Award (2004).
