The 1st movement of this work quotes a motive from Ligeti's 10 Pieces for Wind Quintet and one section of Nielsen's 1st movementof the 6th Symphony. There are still some references (not so obvious) to Ligeti (Le Gran Macabre, Piano Concert) in the 1st movement and to Mahler (5th Symphony) in the 3rd movement
