Born in Vila Real, Portugal, in 1976. Began his clarinet studies with Saul Silva and António Saiote. Later, he improved his skills with Michel Arrignon and Alain Damiens. Attended Master Classes in Portugal, France and Austria under the supervision of the following clarinettists Guy Dangain, Walter Boeykens, Howard Clug, António Saiote, Michel Arrignon, Robert Fontaine and Alois Brandhofer. Most of his work has been devoted to chamber music. Is a a founding member of the groups Camerata Senza Misura, Trivm de Palhetas and Clarinetes Ad Libitum and has played with the Moscow Piano Quartet, the Ensemble Contrapuctus, the Quarteto de Cordas de Lisboa, the Ensemble Português de Clarinetes and the Quarteto de Cordas de Aveiro. He is also a member of OrquestrUtópica and Grupo Música Nova. An accomplished musician, he plays several music styles. He played as a solist with Orquestra Clássica do Porto, Orquestra do Norte, Solistas do Porto, Orquestra de Câmara Musicare, Orquestra Artave and European Medical Students Orchestra. And also worked with Orquestra Gulbenkian and Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa. As a clarinettist, has participated in several musical festivals held in Portugal and abroad. Attended the premiere of works by composers such as Cândido Lima, Christopher Bochmann, António Vitorino d'Almeida, Carlos Guedes, Virgílio Melo, Carlos Azevedo, Fernando C. Lapa, José Júlio Lopes, Nuno Côrte-Real, Ivan Moody, Carlos Caires, Miguel Azguime and António Sousa Dias. He is the dedicatee of works of Cândido Lima Luís Tinoco and Virgílio Melo. He is a professor of clarinet and chamber music at Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo, in Oporto, and at Fundação Conservatório Regional de Gaia.
