Nuno Peixoto de Pinho initiated his musical studies at the age of 18 at the Academia de Música de São João da Madeira, where he completed in 2002, the complementary course in Classical Guitar as well as Composition Techniques and Analysis with Ângela Lopes. In 2003 he took on the Superior Course in Composition at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo do Porto. Since then, he has worked with various composers – Cândido Lima, Fernando Lapa, Dimitris Andrikopoulos, Carlos Guedes, Eugénio Amorim, Eneko Vadillo Perez and Erik Oña. His works have been performed at various venues an festivals: "queria esquecer-me..." for choir at the Black and White Festival in 2006 performed by the EAnsemble choir and Pedro Monteiro (conductor); “...para um futuro microtonal” at the Peças Frescas Festival in 2006 at the São Luiz Theatre in Lisboa; “Hio”, his first orchestral piece, at the Centro Cultural Vila Flor in Guimarães and at the Helena Sá Costa Theatre in Porto presented in 2006 under the direction of Cesário Costa; “Croquis d´un Jour” performed in 2007 by the Remix Ensemble conducted by Rolf Guptaand at the Young Composers’ Lecture Space (Casa da Música). In the context of electronic music, in 2004 and 2005, he presented his works on the Oporto Short Film International Festival and the Doenças Digitais Festival. In 2007 he presented his piece “Atzira” at the Música Viva Festival at the Casa da Música. In 2007, his work “...para um futuro microtonal” was published (score and recording) in the Aguas Furtadas Magazine no. 10. Recently, his two pieces on popular melodies from Santa Maria have been released on a CD recorded by the Câmara de São João da Madeira Choir. In 2008, Nuno Peixoto de Pinho was selected to realize a residency programme at the Laboratório Electroacústico de Criação (LEC – Miso Music Portugal). His work "This is not a poem" for orchestra won the 4th Povoa de Varzím International Composition Competition (2009). Presently Nuno Peixoto de Pinho works as a member of the Factor E at the Casa da Música and as a teacher at the Espinho Music Academy and the Portuguese Catholic University (PCU).
