Paula Azguime founded the Miso Ensemble in 1985; a flute and percussion duo, highly praised by critics and audience alike. As a member of the Miso Ensemble which is one of the most important Portuguese ensembles devoted to contemporary music, Paula Azguime has been performing all over the country and abroad. Composer/Performer/Improviser, she presents with the Miso Ensemble an original program that enlarges the repertoire for flute and percussion with several pieces. She has received commissions from public and private institutions and foundations. Besides her intense activity as a composer and instrumentalist, she actively promotes contemporary music as the director of the Música Viva Festival since 1992. She is at the present, the president of the Portuguese Section of the International Society of Contemporary Music. Since 2002 she is also working as a digital and video artist.
