Details as performer
Paula Azguime (Portugal) is a Portuguese composer and flautist, born in 1960 in Lisbon, and has been working as Art Director for music theatre performances since 1998. In collaboration with Miguel Azguime, she founded the Miso Ensemble in 1985, creating an original flute-, percussion- and live electronics repertoire. Together, they shaped and developed original approaches to opera. Moreover, as a contemporary digital and video artist, she focuses her research on numerous emotions emerging from the connection she creates between sound, text, electronics, and processed images, binding her artistic expression to the metaphysical realm of each performance. Paula Azguime is also involved in various initiatives related to the civic and social impact of Art. Being the director of Miso Music Portugal and of the Portuguese Music Research and Information Centre, she encourages research, creation, production and circulation of new Portuguese music.
