Hugo Vasco Reis (Lisbon, 1981) is a composer, Portuguese guitarist and engineer.

As a guitarist he studied at the Jazz School of Porto, at the Conservatory of Music of Porto and in private classes of Pedro Caldeira Cabral.

As a composer he studied harmony and counterpoint with João Heitor-Rigaud and composition at the Lisbon College of Music (BA in Composition), with Sérgio Azevedo, Luís Tinoco and António Pinho Vargas.

He participated in masterclasses with Alicia Terzian (Argentina), Achim Christian Bornhoeft (Austria), Luigi Abbate (Italy) and Ivan Moody (the United Kingdom), Åke Parmerud (Sweden), Jaime Reis (Portugal) and Hans Tutschku (Germany/USA).

Hugo Vasco Reis' catalogue contains works for orchestra, chamber music, electroacoustic and solo instruments. His music has been performed in various concert halls and festivals.

As a guitarist he performs regularly solo recitals and chamber music (fado), having appeared on various national and international stages.

He edited and released the albums Poema Anacrónico and Metamorphosis and Resonances (SPA 2018 nomination – best classical music work), I am (k)not and O Espaço da Sombra, which had the support of the Ministry of Culture of Portugal, DGArtes, Antena 2 (Classical State Rádio) and Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Lisbon College of Music).
